Bat-persons must be at least 12 years of age. Because of insurance requirements, we can't waive this rule. Please do not ask us for a waiver of this rule. A Birth Certificate for proof of age is required.
This tournament is played according to Major League Rules as modified in the Minnesota rules. We use the Official 2016 Baseball Rules as published by the Commissioner of Baseball.
The Department tournament rules are different than many of you are used to, and the Division ll Tournament will follow the modified rules as agreed upon at the 4:00pm Coaches meeting.
Rule 2 (H) Page 14 in the 2016 Minnesota Rule Book clearly sets the rules for acceptance of Proof of Birth. The incorrect certificate renders the player ineligible for play until the correct one is received by the Director. There will be no exceptions to this rule so please get it right.
All Players Present:
Rule 11 (A) (2) Page 30 in the 2016 Minnesota Rule Book states when a team checks into the tournament, all players must be present. Only players present will be allowed to play in the State Tournament. An exception to this rule (medical emergency, funeral, etc.) may be made in writing to the State Tournament Director, who will have the final authority in granting an exception.
The host team will be expected to attend all meetings, etc. They will not be housed or fed. LeSueur/Henderson Post 55/74 will play in the HOST position in the bracket regardless of their finish in the District 3 Tournament.
Rules Regarding Teams that are eliminated from the Tournament Play: The Director or his representative is the sole authority to decide when a team will be dismissed after a team has been eliminated from the Tournament. It will depend on how far they will travel, time of day, mode of transportation, etc. but basically the 4 teams not in the final 4 which starts Saturday will need to be ready to leave.
Expense reimbursement for a team within a 50-mile radius of Bruce Frank Field in LeSueur. We will follow the rules in the Minnesota American Legion Rule Book. Please, If you’re in doubt, call your District Director before coming to LeSueur.
Please ask any and all questions pertaining to the information contained herein, or any rule(s) that you may not understand, at the Manager-Coaches meeting at 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 28, 2016. As previously mentioned, many of you have been playing under other rules. (High School, NCAA, local District rules, etc.) This we’re sure is confusing to say the least. Therefore please clear it up before play starts. We intend that all of the Legion rules be followed in order to protect ALL Teams and their members. We need your help! Thanks.
See you in LeSueur, Henderson and St. Peter. Good Luck
